Listen To The Dreamy Song Harry Styles Wrote With Meghan Trainor

Who ended up doing the duet?

It’s been almost two years since Meghan Trainor went into the studio with Harry Styles, and now we can finally hear the final version of the duet they wrote together.

Back in 2015, Trainor previewed a short acoustic song called “London Lights” on Capital FM, and rumors swirled that it was her song with Harry. A few months later on the Grammys red carpet, Meghan confirmed to MTV News that her song with Harry was actually titled “Someday Maybe” and joked, “And someday, maybe you’ll hear it.” She also revealed that she didn’t know who was going to end up singing the track with her, but that she definitely wanted it for herself.

Well, that “someday” she talked about is now — and she did get to sing on the track — with Michael Bublé, for his album Nobody But Me, which dropped Friday (October 21.)

“Harry and Meghan wrote a great song,” Michael told Hello! Canada. “I liked it so much that I called her on FaceTime and met her for the first time, and then three weeks later, the most talented 21-year-old kid in the world, Meghan, showed up at the studio with her mom and dad and she was wearing a teddy bear onesie. She was awesome.”

Both Trainor and Syles have writing credits on the song alongside Johan Carlsson, the brains behind One Direction’s “Stockholm Syndrome” and “If I Could Fly.”

“It’s a beautiful song we wrote together on my ukulele,” Trainor told The Sun back in 2015. “We even recorded a rough demo together with our vocals together. It’s a cute acoustic love thing. He’s an incredible writer, too. I was worried he’d just be a 20-year-old boy. So I walked in with a prepared verse and chorus. But he gave me very poetic, mature lyrics. I was like, ‘Well, damn, Harry, you know what love is.’”

Maybe someday we’ll get to hear the demo with Styles, but for now, we can relish in his angelic lyrical abilities and anxiously await his forthcoming solo tunes.
