When news broke last year that Lady Gaga would be taking the reigns from Academy Award winner Jessica Lange in "American Horror Story," pretty much everybody knew she'd have a tough road ahead of her. Lange, a very decorated actor with a decades-spanning career, spent four seasons making her mark as the de facto lead of one the nation's (and the Internet's) most beloved TV shows. How could Gaga, a pop star, even begin to compete?

Well, "compete" might be the wrong word, but as "Hotel" draws to a close (the season finale airs on Wednesday, January 13) without Gaga attached to star in Season 6, we're here to tell you why the actor should most definitely return for more.

She fits in seamlessly.

Gaga, with all of her old Hollywood glamour and sartorial flexibility, fits in perfectly with what Ryan Murphy and his "American Horror Story" squad are trying to create year after year. Not every season features the Hollywood aesthetic of "Hotel," but it is undeniable that all of them (except for maybe "Asylum," the only season to frump-ify Lange) like to highlight the glitzier side of horror. Therefore, Gaga should continue to fit right in as the seasons go on.

The cast loves her.

MTV News spoke with everyone from Finn Wittrock to Denis O'Hare this season, and all of them seemed more than happy to sing "Stefani's" praises -- noting her "contagious enthusiasm" and the fact that she is an "amazing actor," to list just a couple of the various compliments. She even threw a party in her Hollywood manse to welcome everybody to the era of Gaga -- dyeing her pool blood red for the occasion, of course -- so it would be a shame to break up such a tight-knit cast just as they're beginning to find their groove. (Though, to be fair, that is one of the downsides to doing an anthology series.)

She's sexy-scary.

Ever since "Murder House," "AHS" has had a sexy-scary leading lady at its center. Of course Angela Bassett and Sarah Paulson could also theoretically play said sexy-scary role -- or the show could decide to change its tune for a year or two -- but it just wouldn't feel like "AHS" without a gay icon playing a villainess. It's important to stay #OnBrand, you know?

She's fearless in the bedroom.

If there's anything that defines "American Horror Story" more than glamour, it's sex. And, as Murphy told EW, no one (cough) performs quite like Gaga.

“She’s the only actress I think I’ve worked with who wanted to do more explicit stuff than was written,” Murphy told the mag. “You write a foursome for her and you expect a lot of questions. She never did that. She showed up and she was wearing diamond pasties, a Band-Aid on her hoo-ha, heels, and a black veil that Alexander McQueen made for her on the day before his death. Then the crew gasped in delight and we were off!”

Her chilly exterior is actually very perfect.

Just like with January Jones on "Mad Men," some fans and critics have questioned Gaga's poised, chilly exterior on "Hotel." However -- and yes, we'll be biting our tongue next year if Gaga happens to come back and do the same thing -- we happen to firmly believe that making The Countess an ice queen was a conscious choice, and one that has paid off. This is a character who has lived 100 years and seen a whole lot of heartbreak and violence, so the whole detached vibe is completely understandable.

It seems to make her genuinely happy.

This one is important for Gaga fans -- the singer has been quite frank lately about her depression and anxiety, as well as her disillusionment with the music business. She's also been open about how doing "American Horror Story," and fulfilling her lifelong dream to be an actress, has made her "happier than I've ever been." A happy Gaga is a creatively fulfilled Gaga, and a creatively fulfilled Gaga is the Gaga who made The Fame Monster. So like... maybe one more season of "AHS" could create the next "Bad Romance?"

She has the trophy to prove it.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association basically dropped the mic on this argument, except in this metaphor the mic is a Best Actress trophy. It's done. Come back, Gaga.
