Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga And More Are Best Dressed At The Golden Globes
Temperatures aren't quite at the winter chill we're used to in these early days of awards season, but the Golden Globes still brought the heat anyway. From Jennifer Lawrence upstaging everyone to Lady Gaga's fit-for-a-winner Versace, these are the ten best looks to hit the 2016 Golden Globes red carpet.
Zendaya in Marchesa
If there’s a red carpet, rest assured Zendaya will be there dressed as one of the best. Her tiered burgundy gown is another look that’s sure to be filed into her archive of on-point carpet moments. Luckily, this is the beginning of awards season and there are plenty more of these to come. -- Erika Harwood
Gina Rodriguez in Zac Posen
Gina Rodriguez was one of the first to arrive on the carpet, which was great for us, because we were given ample time to admire her navy Zac Posen gown. It also gave us time to realize -- OMG -- that Rihanna wore a similar dress in 2014. Two of our faves wearing similar gorgeous gowns = the stuff that dreams are made of. We’re sooo into it. -- Maeve Keirans
Jennifer Lawrence in Dior
At this point, if JLaw showed up to an awards show in a shower curtain, I think we'd all probably still be into it. But she didn't. This is Dior. Surprise, surprise -- it looks great. -- Gaby Wilson
Melissa McCarthy in custom Melissa McCarthy Seven7
Not only was Melissa McCarthy’s metallic dress was one of the standouts of the night, it was also one of her own designs. She told Vogue, "I've always been obsessed with the drape and sex appeal of certain 1970s dresses. The second we saw that metallic panne velvet, we all thought kimono dress." We are so glad you did, Mel. -- EH
Jennifer Lopez in Giambattista Valli
*Googles Jennifer Lopez's age* *Googles her skin regimen* *Googles her workout routine* *Googles her diet* *writes it all on a small piece of paper and eats it* Jennifer Lopez is a beautiful freak of a human being, which is why she can floor the general public regardless of whether she's wearing next to nothing or a caped Giambattista Valli gown with a very high neck. Also, 200 carats of Harry Winston diamonds. We're not worthy. -- GW
Laverne Cox in Elizabeth Kennedy
White was a very popular color on the red carpet, but Laverne Cox’s sleek, yet totally dramatic -- that train!!! -- caught our attention. She added a pop of color with emerald earrings and a berry lip, which added a little ~something~ without distracting from the dress. -- MK
Lady Gaga in custom Versace
While this would have been Lady Gaga’s night whether she wore custom Versace or a trash bag, we’re glad she went with the custom Versace. For her first nomination (and win) at the Golden Globes, Gaga looked like a glamorous actress from old Hollywood who knew she was about to snag the award. And she did -- both best actress in a miniseries and best dressed. -- EH
Brie Larson in Calvin Klein
Wearing gold to an awards show can be a risky move, because the statuette comparisons are inevitable, and if things don’t work out, it's, uh, a little awkward. Luckily for Brie Larson, she got the perfect complement for her sparkly Calvin Klein dress -- the award for Best Actress. -- MK
Taraji P. Henson in Stella McCartney
We're all so glad that Taraji finally got the recognition she deserves for her role as Cookie, but was anyone else scared that she would get melted chocolate chip stains on that pristine Stella McCartney? Thankfully -- from what any of us can tell -- that didn't happen and her slammin' aesthetic remained untainted. -- GW
Katy Perry in Prada
Katy Perry went big for her first Golden Globes, particularly in the hair department. Katy and her hair benefitted from the assistance of a Bumpit, but her plunging, pink, Prada gown ain’t too shabby either. If she and Jennifer Lawrence want to hang out on all red carpets, we’d be cool with that. -- MK
