Jennifer Lawrence Upstages The Red Carpet At 2016 Golden Globes
The Golden Globes are famous for not only being one of the more ~fun~ shows of awards season, but the Globes also kick off the most high-profile red carpets of the year. For the past couple of years, though, red carpet season hasn't really gotten underway until Jennifer Lawrence hit the step-and-repeat. Well, that moment has arrived, and here's the look that officially jumpstarted 2016:
As expected, she looks gorgeous. And as you could have guessed thanks to her long-standing partnership with the brand, the dress is Dior. If you're feeling déjà vu looking at this Globes dress, it's not (just) because it matches the red carpet (except, you know, better). It calls back to one of her very first red carpet looks!
Yep, it's the same bright red shade as Jennifer's first Oscar dress. But that's not the only Ghost of Dresses Past she channelled with this look.
The straight shape, lack of sleeves, abdomen cut-outs, and even then stones at her neck are all very similar to Jen's 2015 Met Gala outfit, which makes sense since that was Dior, too.
JLaw has earned her status as a fashion risk-taker, dabbling in silhouettes both classic and unconventional (not to mention, hair of ALL lengths), but could 2016 be the year she starts developing an #iconic look? Maybe. But personally, I'd rather see her keep experimenting because she pulls everything off so well. ?
