Ed Sheeran ‘Didn’t Expect’ His ‘Drunk In Love’ Duet With Beyoncé To Happen

'I think it went really well,' Ed said of his collaboration with Queen Bey.

Ed Sheeran made our dreams, and maybe his own, come true when he hit the stage with Beyoncé to perform her hit "Drunk in Love."

As most Sheerios know, Ed has been covering the sexy single for quite some time, but he never actually thought he would one day sing it with Queen Bey herself.

"It wasn't something that I thought would happen," Ed recently told us. "Her set is just kind of so slick and perfect that sticking a scruffy ginger dude in halfway through is a bit like 'Is he meant to be there?' kinda thing, so I just didn't expect it."

But Beyoncé didn't seem to mind his scruffiness, reaching out to Ed to perform the song in front of thousands of fans at the Global Citizen Festival in New York's Central Park.

"She got in contact and was like 'I would love to do it," he said. "She made the arrangement herself and she sent it and I remember listening to it being like 'this is really cool,' and so we did it and ended up performing it, and I think it went really well."

This isn't the first time that Bey and Ed have performed together. The two collaborated for the Stevie Wonder tribute concert, Songs in the Key of Life – An All-Star Salute, back in February, and we imagine that anytime Beyoncé calls, Ed will be there.

"She's one of these people that is just so good at what she does, that even just to be involved, it makes you look better," Ed said. "I'm watching it back being like, 'I'm doing alright,' but if you take her out of the equation I'm not that good at all."

Ed, I would have to disagree with you on that one.
