Demi Lovato's 'Complex' Shoot Includes Toplessness, Knives, And An Inflatable Banana

Demi Lovato is officially not holding back -- and we're very into it. After her sexy and, well, confident video for "Cool for the Summer" came out, it was clear that Demi was showing us a new side of her. Now she's taken that to the next level with her new cover for Complex Magazine.

While Justin Bieber is underwater and in chains on his cover, Demi stays on land and keeps with her summer theme. She poses topless while sitting on an inflatable banana, wearing leopard-print pumps and frilly blue underwear. She's definitely nailed the classic pinup girl look with her sleek waves and bright red lips.

In another shot, she's surrounded by red and gold balloons while wearing a low-cut swimsuit and wielding a knife. She could pop all of them if she wanted, OK? She hasn't yet, but she totally could.

Demi, who's struggled with body image issues in the past, is now embracing her curves to the fullest. She opens up in the interview and credits the Kardashians, Beyonce, and Nicki Minaj with inspiring her to be proud of her body.

"When [the Kardashians] came into the spotlight, they kind of revolutionized what beauty was when it came to body shapes. For so long, it was the heroin-chic ’90s supermodel thing, and I feel like, when the Kardashians came into the picture, people started to look at it because it was different. They were like, 'You know what? That’s actually really beautiful," she explained. "From then, I noticed that Beyoncé was thicker, and Nicki Minaj is thicker. When I say thick—like when I call my thighs thick—I love it. I think it’s a good thing. Watching them really helped me learn to accept my body image, too."
