Demi Lovato Takes Us To Church With A Haunting Hozier Cover

Be prepared to pick your jaw up off the floor.

Preach it, Demi Lovato!

The singer took over BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge for the first time and gave a soulful rendition of Hozier's "Take Me To Church." No surprise here, Demi absolutely slayed her cover as her voice, especially at the end of the song, completely soared, which makes us believe she wasn't kidding when she told us she's hitting notes she's never hit before.

Demi put an almost haunting spin on the song, slowing it down, pouring in her emotions and adding more vocal runs, which had us all saying "amen."

Before she performed her cover, Demi also gave us a stripped down version of her hit "Cool For The Summer." Demi slowed it down and added a bluesy jazz vibe to the song, which took it to a whole new, and unexpected, level.

The single, which she performed at the VMAs, is the fist off her upcoming album Confident, which will introduce us to a new side of the singer.

“Being able to sing about things that I’ve always wanted to sing about, but just always was worried about being the role model, but now if I want to sing about sex or this or that, I’m going to sing about it,” she told us. “So I feel very liberated with this album as well.”
