It hasn't been an easy year for Directioners, and the news that the band is reportedly taking a break doesn't make it any better.

One Direction have mutually agreed to take an "extended hiatus" beginning in March of 2016, which will last a year and have the four remaining members -- Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne -- pursuing solo projects. The group will still release their fifth album this fall and continue its promotion through February.

Obviously this was not the news that fans wanted to hear, and they instantly took to Twitter to unleash a flurry of emotions. Here's how they reacted.
