Good news, sports fans, Katycats, and people who enjoy being entertained: International pop phenom Katy Perry has just been announced as the talent for this year's Super Bowl XLIX. We couldn't be happier in our corner of the internet, mostly because homegirl loves a theme, which means we'll have plenty of SPORTSBALL-inspired outfits to talk about before, during, and after the the big game on February 1, 2015 in Glendale, Arizona. Guess dreams really do come true.
While Perry hasn't mentioned what she's going to wear ~yet~, we've taken the liberty of going through her outfit history to see what the pop princess might have in store for us come Super Bowl Sunday. Let the speculation begin!
1. This fuzzy Muppet football sweater.
Our girl KP, just recently served as a guest picker for ESPN's College Game Day. She did so in the most ~Katy~ version of a fall-appropriate sporty look with a fuzzy, black and pink football jersey-inspired Jeremy Scott sweater, a pink tattoo necklace choker, and two Rebel red raver buns. Our favorite accessory, though? Her plate of corndogs.
2. This Ole Miss game look.
To watch the actual game, KP basically changed into an unofficial Ole Miss Rebels mascot with a team-repping visor and her '90s-est leather moto jacket, black and gray tartan dress, O-ring choker, nose ring, and safety pin earrings. Solidifying her rebel status? That fearless stage dive she did in a bar after the game.
3. This matching VFiles sports set.
Even low-key Katy has a sporty side as evidenced by the head-to-toe VFiles outfit she wore while visiting Disneyland during the 4th of July.
4. This Rocky-inspired workout gear.
Not only does Perry have the ~eye of the tiger~, but she's got the coordinating tiger-printed sports bra. She wore the bra top with a pair of satin boxer shorts at the 2013 VMAs to perform her smash hit "Roar."
5. These Roar Industries sweats.
While her backup dancers might only wear those custom sweats on stage, Katy loves them so much, shelounges in them.
6. This personalized high school cheerleading outfit.
Not only is Katy really into sharing her team spirit on a national and global level, she's also down to take it to the local level, like she did for one lucky high school in Lakewood, Colorado. The Lakewood Tigers won a lip-dub contest featuring her single "Roar," and Perry showed up for a very special nationally televised performance, wearing a bedazzled version of the school's actual cheerleading outfit. An extra cool personal touch, don't you think?
7. This candy pink windbreaker.
8. This neon-sherbet running 'fit.
This ClimaCool outfit from the campaign also wins.
9. ICYMI, she's performed ~around~ the Super Bowl before in this.
Did you catch Katy Perry's football-inspired outfit at the 2012 Direct TV Super Saturday Night concert right before the Giants vs. Patriots? Despite being a Giants fan, she made an effort to be unbiased and rep both teams' colors, and she even has a (possibly DIY) football ring on her left hand.
10. AND watched the game in this.
Or were you too dazzled by the "casual" togs that she wore to watch the actual game?
The best part? Matching with your bestie.
11. This early cheer captain look.
There's KP again, in yet another cheerleading outfit at Dos Pueblos High School in Santa Barbara. Now that we think about, it kind of makes perfect sense for Perry to dress as a cheerleader for this halftime show, right?
12. The time she even repped for the other football.
Katy reworked the West Ham United Umbro 2009/2010 home kit at the 2009 MTV EMA into a pair of hot pants and corset.
13. The greatest Football Katy outfit of all-time.
The biggest KP sporting moment to date, however, might've happened at the 2008 EMAs. Perry wore a footballer's outfit, complete with pads and striped tube socks, while straddling a giant tube of chapstick.
