Cry With Ed Sheeran ... In GIFs!
I just cried an ocean of saltwater tears. Why? MTV just premiered two songs off Ed Sheeran's upcoming X album. And both of the fresh-out-of-the-wrapper tracks -- "Even My Dad Does Sometimes" and "Shirtsleeves" -- make you feel.
Just take a look at some of the lyrics from "Even My Dad": "It's all right to cry, even my dad does sometimes/ So don't wipe your eyes, tears can remind you're alive/ It's alright to die, if that's the only thing you haven't tried/ But just for tonight, hold on."
In both songs, Sheeran consoles his subjects. Though on "Even My Dad," the person seems less at fault than the one in "Shirtleeves," which centers on a girlfriend who cheats on him.
MTV is set to debut two more songs from Ed over the weekend. So far, we've heard "Sing," X's first single, which oozes reckless, drunk love. Next, Ed released "The Man," "Bloodstream," "Thinking Out Loud" and "Photograph." But our pair of just-released premieres are sobering. (Check back with MTV for two more tracks this weekend.)
Here's how we feel about Ed Sheeran's X lyrics so far. In GIFs. Because this is the Internet, after all.
In Love
"Darlin' I will
Be lovin' you
Till we're seventy
Baby my heart
Could still fall as hard
At twenty three" - "Thinking Out Loud"
Inspired
"So live life like you're giving up, cause you act like you are
Go ahead and just live it up
Go on and tear me apart, hold on" - "Even My Dad Does Sometimes"
Disappointed
"I still taste salt water
Oh my lips from your kiss bitterness
And I drown within the ocean you made
And I hate to love you, these cuffs cover in your make up
I’ll never trust you again
You can just be a friend" - "Shirtsleeves"
Reckless and lusty
"It's late in the evening
Glass on the side
I've been sat with you
For most of the night
Ignoring everybody here
We wish they would disappear
So maybe we could get down now" - "Sing"
Crazy and a little drunk
"This is how it ends, I feel the chemicals burn in my bloodstream
Fading out again, I feel the chemicals burn in my bloodstream
So tell me when it kicks in." - "Bloodstream"
Angry, rejected
"Eventually I'll be fine I know that it was never meant to be
Either way I guess I'm not prepared
But I'll say this
These things happen for a reason and you can't change
Take my apology
I'm sorry for the honesty
But I had to get this off my chest" - "The Man"
Nostalgic
"So you can keep me
Inside the pocket of your ripped jeans
Holding me close until our eyes meet
You won't ever be alone
And if you hurt me
That's okay baby, there'll be worse things
Inside these pages you just hold me
And I won't ever let you go
Wait for me to come home" - "Photograph"
