'Chance The Dropout' Is The Ultimate Chance The Rapper & Kanye West Mashup

This ambitious mixtape is a God dream — it’s everything

We’ve heard what Chance the Rapper and Kanye West sound like together thanks to collaborations like “Ultralight Beam” and “All We Got,” but now their discographies have collided in the most extreme way.

DJ Critical Hype and DJ Clyde have joined forces for Chance the Dropout, an ambitious 23-song mixtape blending Chance’s vocals with classic Kanye beats. The result is as good as you’d imagine (maybe even better) — the combination of Chance’s witty wordplay and Kanye’s intricate sampling is pure ear candy, and gives us an idea of what that rumored collaborative album of theirs might sound like. If you had any doubt that the Chicago natives are kindred creative spirits, well, Chance the Dropout will prove you wrong.

DJ Critical Hype told Pigeons & Planes that he and DJ Clyde worked on the mixtape for a year and a half. “It seemed like a match made in heaven and a great way to bridge the gap of a new and older Chicago artist,” he said about the tape, adding, “When I started to play around with the idea, it sounded even better than I had thought.”

Chance has always been vocal about Kanye’s influence on him, and even declared ’Ye the “greatest artist of this generation.” That should make it all the more interesting when the two rappers square off at the 2017 Grammys — but until then, let’s just celebrate their joint greatness with this dope mixtape.
