Harry Potter And The Cursed Child Is Finally Coming To America Because Magic Is Real

The official eighth story in the ‘Harry Potter’ saga eyes Broadway bow in 2018

Unless you have your Apparition license — or scored one on the wizarding black market — and a few hundred galleons lying around, seeing the London production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was all but impossible for us American fans. Those lucky enough to have seen it loved it, but still, it always felt a little weird that the eighth official story in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter saga was so inaccessible. Combing through spoilers on Tumblr and reading the official script book just aren't the same as seeing the magic on stage.

Thankfully, we only have to wait a little bit longer. On Thursday (December 1), Pottermore announced that the acclaimed West End play was in final talks to make its Broadway debut in Spring 2018 at the Lyric Theatre. But first, the theater has to undergo some major renovations to accommodate the magical production and its unique staging.

For producer Sonia Friedman, it was important to find a theater that would compliment the look and feel of the current stage production in London, and the 1,900-seat theater would be remodeled into a more intimate 1,500-seat auditorium. She told Pottermore: "We are still subject to planning, but assuming we get the go ahead, we will have the theater of our dreams that will be intimate enough for a drama, yet big enough for us to follow in the footsteps of the London production and continue to provide low-priced tickets throughout the auditorium."

So not only are Rowling and Co. working on bringing the magic of Cursed Child to New York City, but they're also upholding their promise to make it an affordable experience for fans. Although, seeing how tickets for Cursed Child on the West End are currently sold out through 2017, you're still going to need a bit of Felix Felicis to snatch up a ticket.

At this point, no other details about the American production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child have been announced.
