Lil Wayne Has A Cryptic New Project On The Way

Get hyped for ‘Funeral’

Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V has been stuck in label purgatory for about two years now, but that hasn’t stopped him from whipping up a new project to hold fans over.

During a recent appearance on skateboard podcast The Nine Club, Weezy revealed he has a new body of music called Funeral in the pipeline.

“Just make sure they know that Funeral is coming soon,” he said toward the end of the hour-long interview, which covered everything from his history with Cash Money to his Miami rooftop skatepark. When asked what Funeral was, he confirmed, “That's my music. Get your roses ready.”

It’s unclear when Funeral will arrive, and whether it’s a full album or a mixtape, but Wayne assured the mystery project will be worth the wait.

“I don’t have a release date, but I have a whole bunch of good news coming soon,” he promised. “If you are a Wayne fan, I know we’ve been going through a lot of tough times right now, but if you’re a Wayne fan, we’re about to hold our heads high soon.”

Sure enough, Weezy fans have been through the ringer this year, between Wayne’s scary seizures and his early retirement talk (which thankfully didn’t stick). On top of that, there’s his ongoing legal battle with Cash Money and Birdman — but at least he’s finding a way to work through the madness.

Watch Lil Wayne’s full interview below, with the Funeral talk starting around the 56-minute mark.
