We're less than a month away from the release of La La Land, and we finally have a full song from the forthcoming soundtrack to swoon over, thanks to this slow and sultry number from Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling.

"City of Stars" — which we first caught a few bars of in the first trailer for the musical — has Stone and Gosling flirting back and forth over a simple, stunning piano line.

The musical is set in modern-day Los Angeles, which is the City of Angels, sure — but for Stone and Gosling, the softer side of L.A. comes out, and that romantic optimism has them both looking through the smog and up into the night sky throughout the duet. It's hardly a polished cut, and the razzle-dazzle and flawless vibratto typically reserved for musical theater soundtracks gives way to Stone's giggles and lends a gritty weight to Gosling's baritone.

If this is the first song we're getting from La La Land, we're off to a good start, indeed.
