The Madden Brothers Really Want You To Listen To Waterparks

Prepare for your new obsession

If you like puppies, memes, orange juice, having no chill, wearing Hawaiian shirts (#FloralFridays), early-2000s pop punk, and ghosts, then you’ll like Waterparks. You’ll probably like their music, too.

The quirky and eccentric pop-rock trio, comprised of lead singer Awsten Knight, guitarist Geoff Wigington, and drummer Otto Wood, just dropped their debut, full-length album, Double Dare, on November 4 with some help from their managers and musical “dads” Benji and Joel Madden of Good Charlotte.

“We are extremely excited to be working with Waterparks, one of the best young bands we’ve heard in years,” Joel shared in a statement to Waterparks’ record label, Equal Vision. “They are talented musicians, prolific writers, and a great live band. We are excited for the future of this band, and proud to be a part of their team.”

Joel also sweetly dedicated Waterparks’ latest single, “Stupid for You,” to his wife, Nicole Richie. Aw.

The band’s had a packed schedule leading up to the album release, recording with Good Charlotte and spending an entire the summer on the Vans Warped Tour. But that hasn’t dampened their hyperactivity at all. The songs on Double Dare are energetic and infectious, hopping from really fast, nervous-talking verses to slowed-down melodies that punch you right in the feels.

Plus, Benji and Joel Madden know talent when they see it, so we can trust them on this recommendation.
