Kanye Asks Fans To ‘Sing For Cudi’ On The Saint Pablo Tour

See him lead the crowd in a beautiful mid-concert tribute

Let it be known that Kanye West is Team Kid Cudi all the way, recent subtweets, disses, and digs be damned.

During his Saint Pablo tour stop in Los Angeles last night (October 25), Kanye offered up a moving tribute to Cudi, who recently checked into rehab for depression and suicidal urges. As he neared the end of “Waves,” Ye asked the crowd to join him in singing Cudder’s hook from “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1,” a Life of Pablo standout that Cudi cowrote.

“Let’s sing this one time for Cudi,” Kanye said from atop his floating stage. “So Cudi, he in rehab right now, but he got a number-one song on the radio, and I want you to sing so he can hear it.

“Cudi, you hear ’em?’” Ye asked as he and the crowd repeated that instantly uplifting lyric: “Beautiful morning, you’re the sun in my morning, babe / Nothing unwanted.”

Kanye’s touching tribute comes just a few weeks after Cudi called him and Drake “fakes ones” in a lengthy Twitter rant. Ye initially rebuked the comments, saying he felt “disrespected,” but later doubled back and called Cudi his brother and “the most influential artist of the past 10 years.” Drake, meanwhile, mocked Cudder on his newly released track “2 Birds, 1 Stone.”

Good on Kanye — he’s clearly the bigger man here.
