Guys, the new frontier of celebrity interviews is here, and it involves stars interviewing themselves about themselves. Mass Appeal did it first with their “Time Alone” series (the most recent episode featured Mac Miller), and now Nylon has followed suit with “Me + My Selves.”
The mag’s October cover star, R&B princess Tinashe, gamely participated in a trippy video where she interrogates multiple versions of herself. Among her “pressing questions” is an inquiry about why her sophomore album, Joyride, has taken so long to drop.
“If I could answer that question, my album would probably be out by now,” says one Tinashe. A second one says, “The creative process has its ebbs and flows,” and another simply states, “Politics.” Finally, Tinashe the interviewer declares, “It’s coming out when it comes out.” So there!
The 23-year-old — who recently dropped the sultry single “Company” and also performed on MTV’s Wonderland — also asks herself about flaws, embarrassing moments, and celeb beefs (“ain’t nobody got time for that”). Check out the full interview below.
