Bangs were just the beginning for Ariana Grande — she’s going all-in on unexpected hairstyles. Last night, she broke out a style we truly never saw coming: crimped hair.

Thankfully, Ariana didn’t go full ’80s just for the hell of it — she was paying homage to Whitney Houston on Greatest Hits. She topped it off with a bow — an accessory Ariana used to be very into, BTW — which isn’t quite as big as the one Whitney wore in the “How Will I Know” video, but gets the dedication across just as well.

It seems unlikely that Ariana will keep her crimped ponytail, but, hey, stranger things have happened.
