There’s a long, storied history of songs about dudes coveting other dudes’ girlfriends, and now Shawn Mendes has thrown his hat into the jealousy ring.

The teen Vine star just dropped “Treat You Better," his first new single of 2016. It’s also our first glimpse at the follow-up to his 2015 debut LP, Handwritten.

“Treat You Better” is the latest entry on the list of songs about guys insisting they could love a girl more than the guy she’s with, like Backstreet Boys’ “More Than That” and Maroon 5’s “She Will Be Loved.” Mendes gives his take on the theme a bit more of a kick, though, making his case for boyfriendom to a totally danceable beat.

The single is now available on Apple Music. Mendes also posted a quieter acoustic version of the song on Twitter, which shows off his impressive voice and guitar chops.
