Nick Jonas’s lyrics have taken a noticeably violent turn.

On “Chainsaw,” Jonas has so many relationship regrets that he can’t help but break things. "I took a chainsaw to the sofa where I held your body close for so long,” he sings, which is quite an image all on its own. He also smashes some china while he’s at it.

“Chainsaw” follows “Champagne Problems” and “Close” in the rollout to Jonas’s new record, Last Year Was Complicated, which is already shaping up to be a heavy breakup album.
