'Fast 8' Revs Up In Cuba, Vin Diesel Teases Toretto Origin Story

Surprise! Dom's got even more family.

Start your engines: Fast 8 is officially in production. On Wednesday, director F. Gary Grey and franchise star Vin Diesel made the announcement on social media that filming on the eighth entry in the Fast and Furious franchise filming had commenced in Cuba.

Given the exotic locale, fans can expect plenty of high-octane action, street racing, and beautiful girls in bikinis. After all, as Diesel reminded fans in a behind-the-scenes video from the sunny set, Cuba is where "the Torettos started." Hold up. Does this mean the final trilogy in the Fast and Furious franchise is a Toretto family origin story?!

Details of the plot are sparse right now, but we do know that Dom and his familia will be pitted against Charlize Theron's villainess. Scott Eastwood has also joined the cast as an associate of Furious 7's Mr. Nobody. Given his pretty-boy blue eyes and chiseled jawline, Eastwood's casting has many fans speculating if he'll wear the mantle left vacant by the passing of franchise star Paul Walker.

One thing we do know, however, is that in addition to Cuba, Fast 8 is also headed to New York City for the first time ever, which should give way to some truly incredible action sequences.

Fast 8 speeds into theaters April 14, 2017.
