Kristen Stewart’s MTV Movie Awards Style Still Makes Us Smile

KStew was definitely feelin' herself when she rocked these red carpet outfits

Kristen Stewart has ventured back to her indie-sweetheart roots after a five-film stint in the Twilight zone, but back when she and Bella were one and the same, the actress was an absolute stalwart of the MTV Movie Awards.

KStew devotees know all too well that Stewart has always made interesting red-carpet choices, and as the reigning co-champ of the show (from 2008 to 2012, she and The Twilight Saga collected a lot of Golden Popcorn), she always made sure to bring it to the Movie Awards.

So, on the eve of her 26th birthday, which just so happens to fall on the same weekend as the 2016 Movie Awards -- airing Sunday, April 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on MTV -- we're paying tribute to her five-year red-carpet domination.

Between the layered tank tops, capri pants, and high heels, this outfit is peak 2008. On anyone else, this look might be pretty basic, but with her signature swagger, but Stewart pulls off the rad silhouette with an attitude that seems to say, I know I look cool.

This moment was proof that, yes, Kristen Stewart is the kind of girl that can just throw on a pair of worn-in Converse from her closet and pair them with an excellent Yigal Azrouël minidress. Her casual confidence was just so Kristen that this look really couldn't have been any more perfect for the occasion.

  • 2010: Metal and legs for days

The bulky strap shoes are way out of place (as in, send these babies back to '96 from whence they came), but otherwise I was definitely digging the ponytail, tank dress, and mixed-print combo. It was fresh and fun and gave an unintentional wink to the whole sparkly vampire mojo that her squad was working with at the time.

  • 2011: Zippin’ it up

KStew got a lot of flak for the way the top of this dress kept slipping down to reveal her undergarments, but it kind of worked, actually, given the messy texture and message of this safety pin-laden design. On-screen and off, she was a full-on ~woman~ at this point, and this outfit certainly spoke to that. Plus, that tiny hint of brassiere made her recycled black pumps match, so that too.

  • 2012: Serving up a silver dish

Whether you were into geometric designs or not, you had to give Kristen points for originality and mixing it up with a splash of color here. It was a great fit for her petite frame, and she looked like she had fun being a little funky with it.

The 2016 MTV Movie Awards will air on Sunday, April 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
