'Divergent' Set Visit: Wars, Factions, and Romantic Chemistry

Shailene Woodley wants to make one thing clear: Tris Prior is not a badass.

"She's not a superhero, she's not an action star," the actress told MTV News of her "Divergent" character. "And I think that there's something really refreshing about bringing a very normal adolescent to life in a way where she has to rise to the occasion and find her braveheart and be really courageous in situations where she doesn't necessarily want to be."

If you haven't heard of "Divergent", brace yourself for endless news coverage leading up to the film's anticipated release next year. And for fans of the young-adult book series, get ready to see how your favorite characters are brought to life in Neil Burger's big screen adaptation.

MTV News' Josh Horowitz recently got a chance to visit the "Divergent" set for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look with cast members Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Zoe Kravitz and Miles Teller (who also co-stars with Woodley in "The Spectacular Now").

According to James, the film is set "a hundred and sixty years in the future, and we assume that there was, at some point, some kind of pivotal war." As a result, humans have had to adapt and create a system in which people are divided into five factions based on their personalities. When Tris (Woodley) learns that she doesn't fit neatly into any one faction (making her, wait for it...Divergent), she begins to realize that her seemingly perfect society isn't all that perfect.

Another famous face on set? "Divergent" author Veronica Roth, who praised the film for staying true to her literary vision.

Keep an eye out for the movie on MTV's Comic-Con Live Stream and follow our coverage of the convention starting this Thursday.

"Divergent" is set to hit theaters March 21, 2014.
