'The Legends Of The Hidden Temple' Reboot Is Bringing Back A Fan Favorite
After the announcement earlier this month that Nickelodeon is reviving the beloved '90s game show Legends of the Hidden Temple as a TV movie, eager fans are already sharpening their Shrine of the Silver Monkey skills and preparing themselves for more freaky temple guards. (Full Disclosure: MTV and Nickelodeon are both owned by Viacom.)
On March 23, Nickelodeon revealed the show's former host, Kirk Fogg, will play an important part in the reboot that "pays homage to his duties in the classic Nick series." And seriously, would we want it any other way? Fogg was such a staple of '90s kids's childhoods, as well as Nickelodeon in general. He is, besides Olmec, the face of Legends of the Hidden Temple.
"When Nickelodeon asked me to be a part of the Legends of the Hidden Temple movie, I immediately went to the closet and pulled out my blue denim shirt, which has been protected by a powerful golden force field since 1995," joked Fogg.
"Legends is truly a legend, and I’m honored to be a part of it again," he continued. "I’m sure the Ancient Olmec had something to do with this; that rock head is pretty sneaky."
The TV movie will focus on three siblings (Isabela Moner, Colin Critchley, and Jet Jurgensmeyer) who get more than they bargain for after breaking away from a jungle tour. They'll have to tackle different obstacles in order to stay alive. Thankfully, Olmec will be there to help with the temple's secrets along the way.
Oh, and you can expect to see The Steps of Knowledge, as well as cameos from a certain green monkey, red jaguar, and silver snake.
Legends of the Hidden Temple is slated to debut on Nickelodeon in Fall 2016.
