It's Official: Harrison Ford And Steven Spielberg Reunite For Fifth (!) 'Indiana Jones' Movie

Grab your fedora, Harrison

Harrison Ford is entering a unique phase in his career. The actor, who turned 73 last year, has found himself in high demand to star in just about every beloved franchise sequel. After reprising his role as everyone's favorite scruffy-looking Nerfherder in last year's blockbuster continuation of the Star Wars saga, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Ford will reprise yet another one of his iconic characters for Disney: Indiana Jones.

Steven Spielberg will direct Ford in the untitled fifth installment in the classic action-adventure franchise, which will open July 19, 2019, Disney announced Tuesday.

Indiana Jones found new life in 2008 with Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and talk of further films was never far from the movie rumor mongers. Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt was the man rumored to take the whip and fedora from Ford in a Disney-approved reboot of the franchise, but now it looks like Spielberg and Ford intend to continue the famed archaeologist's adventures with a brand-new story -- hopefully without Shia LaBeouf.

"Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019," said Disney chairman Alan Horn. "It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn't be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven."
