Chris Pratt Says He's Not The New Indiana Jones — Not Yet, At Least...

Is Star-Lord about to pick up the whip and fedora?

With Reporting by Josh Horowitz

Chris Pratt. Why did it have to be Chris Pratt?

Because everything is awesome, that's why — and it's not Pratt yet. The "Guardians of the Galaxy" actor is the man rumored to take on an "Indiana Jones" reboot for Disney, and why shouldn't he be at the center of such discussion? As Star-Lord, Pratt basically played a space-faring treasure hunter, not unlike Indy's archaeological habits; and in the upcoming "Jurassic World," we can see Pratt rocks a fedora as well as Harrison Ford — almost, at least.

But for now, the rumors are just that: rumors. Pratt made this fact abundantly clear when speaking with MTV on the Oscars red carpet, saying: "It's all nothing until it's something, and so far? It's not something."

The "not-something" casting of Pratt as whip-cracking Henry Jones Junior isn't a daunting prospect, however. "I don't think it's overwhelming to contemplate," he said with the exact kind of confidence you would hope to hear from Indy himself. "The pressure would come because it's such a great franchise, and you wouldn't want to get it wrong. It would have to be perfect to do it, you know what I mean?"

"So, we'll see," he continued. "Like I said, it's nothing until it's something."

But here's the good news: Pratt promised that as soon as he finds out more about these "Indiana Jones" rumors, MTV's very own Josh Horowitz will be the first person to get the call… even though he doesn't have his phone number yet.

"I'll find it," he promised. We're counting on it, Chris.
