Listen To Wiz Khalifa And Max B Link For 'Silver Surfer'

When the digital war of words between Wiz Khalifa and Kanye West erupted last month, its spark was Yeezy's announcement that he'd be re-naming his album Waves. Wiz, an ardent Max B fan, felt 'Ye was co-opting the title from Biggavelli, the Harlem rapper currently serving a 75-year sentence for armed robbery, aggravated assault, kidnapping, and murder.

Wiz and Kanye were ultimately able to set their differences aside, though, and some good has come of it: Not only was Max B featured on Kanye's The Life of Pablo (the name he chose after he scrapped Waves), but now, Wiz has linked up with the incarcerated Harlem rapper for the "Silver Surfer" remix.

"The story behind this track is crazy," Dame Grease, who produced the song, told Complex. "I had been working with Joe Young out of Germany, and he had an unreleased song with Max B from before Max got locked up. When the controversy over Kanye considering naming his album Waves and the dispute between Wiz Khalifa and Kanye happened, I spoke to Joe and said the time was right to let the world hear Max again.

"I got the Max vocals and produced a new beat, and we released that version of 'Silver Surfer' with just Joe Young and Max [earlier this month]. A few days after we announced the song and put it out, Kanye updated his album's tracklist to have a 'Silver Surfer' interlude. Alpac from Max B's Gain Greene team had the track and he was going to get on the remix, so he reached out and got Wiz Khalifa on it as well. It was a team effort and the end result is that classic wave."

In addition to this track and the appearance on T.L.O.P., Max B hosted French Montana's Wave Gods mixtape, which dropped over the weekend, and you can stream below.
