While tons of MCs have rapped over Adele's hits in the past, the British singer has been perfecting her own rap skills. At least that's how it seemed on Wednesday, Jan. 13, when the "Hello" star broke into a flawless rendition of Nicki Minaj’s famed verse off Kanye West’s “Monster” during an episode of “Carpool Karaoke.”
Yep, that's Adele rhyming along to bars about delicious brains, Young Money, pink wigs and being a motherf—kin’ monster. She even waved to those who've had their careers killed by Nicki in the clip.
Minaj was apparently watching (and celebrating) along. The Queen of the Barbz hit Instagram with a caption about Adele’s performance full of joy and emojis.
"Pull thru, QUEEN!!!!! ?????? #Adele #Monster the attitude & fingers to match. #Oh #Ok #IcoNic ❤️ I cried when she waved bye to the careers ?#Hello #BuhBye ??"
Nicki also responded to the "Late Late Show" performance -- which included a rendition of the Spice Girls throwback hit "Wannabe" -- on Twitter. There, she talked about how "Adele is mad ratchet" and added a "#UK #WutsGood."
It looks like there's mutual love here, but we'll have to wait and see if Nicki and Adele are ready to hit the studio together. Based on the reactions to this alone, though, it seems like fans are clamoring for that collab.
