10 Ways Lady Gaga Proved She Has What It Takes To Be An Actress

Mother Monster is now a Golden Globe winner.

Golden Globe award-winner Lady Gaga sure does have a nice ring to it, doesn't it?

We can't honestly say we were expecting to see Gaga beat out Kirsten Dunst, Queen Latifah, Felicity Huffman and Sarah Hay for the Best Actress in a Miniseries or Television Film trophy for her role as The Countess in "American Horror Story: Hotel" on Sunday night (Jan. 10). But when she did, it was just icing on the cake on what was already a pretty fantastic Golden Globes for the singer -- who admitted that acting, not singing, was her first real passion.

And we have to say, now that we've seen Gaga at a major Hollywood awards show, we think her transformation from meat dress-wearing pop star to old school Hollywood icon is officially complete.

Here's why:

She dressed the part, becoming an actual human hourglass.

As much as we wanted to see Meat Dress 2.0. at first, Gaga's sleek Versace gown, with its sculpted hourglass bodice was a great fit for her, and a strong sign that she's embracing a new image. (It was also a really great homage to her "AHS" character, The Countess.)

She rocked red-carpet interviews like a pro.

Gaga may be used to winning Grammys, Video Music Awards, American Music Awards, and so on and so forth, but being nominated for an acting award is a whole new ball game. However, she totally rocked her red-carpet interviews, telling Matt Lauer she had "a glass of wine, and a cigarette, and a prayer in the car." That whole "I'm a megastar but I have anxiety just like you" tone is crucial to hit, and boy did Gaga knock it out of the park.

What's an A-list actress without a smoldering Hollywood hunk by her side? These two lovebirds gave Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan a run for their money in the adorable department. Fact.

And they nailed that crucial red-carpet smooch.

How have these two already mastered the perfect amount of red carpet PDA? Too much and you become Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton circa 2000. Not enough, and breakup rumors hit US Weekly the next morning.

She presented to an '80s icon like it was no big deal.

Is there a millennial woman on Planet Earth who wouldn't kill to present an acting award to Christian "Heathers" Slater? Surely not, so props to Gaga for getting the once-in-a-lifetime chance to hug J.D. Dean on national television, and even more props for keeping her cool. (Because she's an actress not a singer. She belongs here!)

She freaking WON.

Can you believe it? Can you even. Believe. It?

Gaga sure couldn't seem to when her name was called, leading to a very sweet and genuine moment with Kinney that -- thanks to the Internet -- we can all treasure forever. Mastering a winner's face (and, for less successful evenings, a loser's face) is a crucial skill for any actress, and Gaga clearly has it down pat.

Lady Gaga

Gaga, bless her heart, did everything she could to try to thank every member of the sprawling "American Horror Story: Hotel" cast during her limited time onstage, which is more than we can say for other celebs who couldn't be bothered.

“You’re all so talented and because of you I was able to shine, I guess,” Gaga said when she took the stage.

She gained Laverne Cox as a fan.

When Janet Mock and Laverne Cox approve, you know you're doing OK.

... And Cher.

If anyone knows what it's like to take the journey from pop star to major actress, it's Cher, who won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1988 for "Moonstruck." Clearly, Gaga already has her stamp of approval.

She became a meme.

Hey man -- it's arguable that memes are why Jennifer Lawrence is as popular as she is today. So clearly, Gaga is on the right track.
