The gut-wrenching truth behind your beloved Disney movies puts the gore in all those "Saw" movies to shame. BuzzFeed dropped a video Wednesday (Nov. 25) that explores the very, very dark origins of the fairy tales you grew up watching.

"The Little Mermaid," "Pocahontas," "Rapunzel," "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," "Cinderella" and "The Frog Prince" are full of chirping birds, pretty dresses and hunky princes in their Disneyfied, G-rated version. But before all that, these enchanting stories included horrors like being hanged, cutting off toes to fit in a shoe and dying at age 21. ?
