Three girls, one kiss. Three cats, one...face-meltingly adorable nuzzle fest? Some grooming was involved. Sure, three cats performing the Britney Spears/Madonna/Christina Aguilera "Like A Virgin" kiss isn't as scandalous as the 2003 VMA original, but, in their mini-hats and veils, the kitties are certainly cuter. With their teensy-weensie noses and fluffy widdle heads, the vid is much less provocative than the spit-swapping done by three divas. So if you missed the mini Boy Toy belts, catch the cats re-enacting the famous threeway VMA kiss... lest you spend one more moment of your existence having NOT watched cats act like Madonna, Britney and Christina. Horrors.
We sat down with dog and cat outfitter Ada Nieves to talk about what was needed to re-create the fashion of some of the most talked-about moments of not just VMA history, but pop culture history as well. On Tuesday, we talked about how to keep Lady Gaga's meat dress from being eaten by a dog and yesterday we learned how to sew a cat-sized Boy Toy belt. Each time, the certified FIT pet fashion designer talked about the care and attention she gave each costume recreation, and how exactly she got those matching "Like A Virgin" outfits so darn cute. (But keeping cat hair off the silk? She had no tips for that...)
MTV Style: We've got to know: Do you ever want to design clothing that humans can wear?
Ada Nieves: I have been trying to jump into mix and create options for owners and pets to match. So far, all I have are "guayaberas," which are men's Latin shirts and coordinated and matching skirts.

MTV Style: How did you find that very tiny kitten jewelry hung around the kitties' necks?
Ada: The jewelry is handmade! I needed extra tiny pieces for the kittens and cannot find that size around.

MTV Style: What about the Madonna top hat? How does the cat even tolerate wearing a hat?!
Ada: I made it from scratch. I had to review several ways of making a hat until I finally figured it out. The hat is actually made of cardboard covered with felt, and then covered with the same black fabric as Madonna's tux. You can actually see machine stitches, as well as the sewing I did by hand.

MTV Style: The fact that there are patch pockets, accessories and real-life closures is really remarkable. Is attention to detail the most important element in these re-creations?
Ada: Absolutely, and I try to stay authentic. There are points you have to focus on that give the signature of the "character", and these details cannot be overlooked.
