Chance The Rapper's New Single Will Give You A Heavenly Feeling

Chano debuted 'Angels' on 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.'

Chance the Rapper and Stephen Colbert have been teasing a secret collaboration, and while we didn't get that on last night's episode of "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," we did get something else that's pretty special: A brand-new Chano track.

He debuted his new jam, "Angels," on the late-night talk show, and also dropped the song for free on iTunes, Soundcloud and his website. For his performance, he was joined by fellow Chicagoan Saba, who sings the hook, and was backed by The Social Experiment.

If this is a sign of what's in store on Chancellor's upcoming third mixtape, we're in for a treat.

The song, sonically -- it's bright, energetic and soulful -- is a bit more reminiscent of Chance's Acid Rap jams, from 2013, than of this year's Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment release Surf. But he's far from stuck in the past.

Lyrically, he addresses fatherhood for the first time ("Clean up the streets so my daughter can have somewhere to play"), while continuing to shine a light on the violence inflicted by and upon young people in Chicago ("It's too many young angels on the Southside/ Got us scared to let our grandmommas outside").

The 21-year-old was pretty geeked when he watched the episode when it aired nationally following its taping. And with good reason.

There's still no word when Chano will bless our ears with his upcoming third mixtape, but I'll have this on repeat until he does.
