'Gotham': Romance Is In The Air For The Riddler -- And Also Madness

Watch an exclusive clip of Edward Nygma FINALLY asking out Kringle. Finally.

For a season and change, we've watched as Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) has awkwardly -- like, really awkwardly -- flirted with his OTP Kristen Kringle (Chelsea Spack) on "Gotham." And finally, on Monday's episode, "Rise of the Villains: Strike Force," Nygma grows a backbone.

Or does he? As fans of the show know, at the end of Season 1 he -- spoiler -- killed Kringle's abusive cop boyfriend, driving himself (further) insane in the process. And this season, he's been straight up Gollum-ing out, as a suave, Stefan Urquelle-esque personality has been appearing to him, urging him to man up and take what he wants.

So far, Nygma has resisted, but after saving Kringle during the Maniax assault on the Gotham Precinct in episode two, his bond with Kringle has only grown stronger.

All that's just a little background, because our exclusive clip for the show hilariously, adorably and sorta terrifyingly shows what happens when Nygma finally solves the riddle of his own feelings.

The Monday, Oct. 12 episode (8 p.m. ET, if you're curious) also introduces new police captain Barnes, played by veteran awesome dude Michael Chiklis, and finds Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) mixing it up with Gotham's Big Bad Theo Galavan (James Frain). I'm sure that will go REAL well.
