Here's One O.G. Ghostbuster Who Won't Be Returning For The Reboot

Paul Feig put him on the 'Who ya gonna call?' list but got slimed.

If you're holding out hope that the "Ghostbusters" reboot might also bring back the goofy antics of the mineral water-lovin', goofy helmeted Louis Tully -- you know, since literally the entire rest of the surviving cast has signed on to support the all-girls installment -- well, we've got bad news.

Rick Moranis is apparently planning his return to Hollywood, after an 18-year hiatus wherein he worked as a stay-at-home dad following his wife's unfortunate passing from breast cancer. But he has exactly zero interest in dealing with any gooey ghosts as part of his comeback.

Moranis explained to The Hollywood Reporter that he turned down an offer to re-team with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts on the O.G. (Original Ghostbusters) cameo list because, essentially, he doesn't see the point.

"I wish them well. I hope it’s terrific," he said. "But it just makes no sense to me. Why would I do just one day of shooting on something I did 30 years ago?"

And while he's going to jump on it when the right project does come along -- because he's ready to get back to business now -- the idea of reviving Louis Tully for an honorary round just "didn't appeal" to him at all. Harrumph.

FWIW, Moranis isn't the only one who's expressed some serious reluctance about this third "Ghostbusters" round. Murray, too, seemed to be pretty gung-ho with the "no," but then he changed his mind out of respect for the reboot's lead actresses: Kristen Wigg, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.

"I thought about it for a very long time. Like, many, many months. No, that’s not right. I was seriously thinking about this for years, really," Murray told Entertainment Weekly. "It kept eating at me, and I really respect those girls. And then I started to feel like if I didn’t do this movie, maybe somebody would write a bad review or something, thinking there was some sort of disapproval [on my part]."

So, who knows? Maybe Moranis, too, will come around for the gals. If not, well, at least he'll always be the keymaster.
