We were all pretty bummed when "The LEGO Movie" creators Phil Lord and Christopher Miller left "The Flash" movie to go work on a Han Solo spin-off in the "Star Wars" franchise. After all, their fun imaginative style would have been just perfect for the Scarlet Speedster.

But if Warner Bros.' new choice for director is any indication, they are more than up to the task of bringing some much-needed mirth to the DC Cinematic Universe. According to THR, the movie studio has tapped Seth Grahame-Smith to possibly write and direct the theatrical debut of the Fastest Man Alive, as played by Ezra Miller.

Grahame-Smith is the author of "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" and "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter;" he then adapted the latter book for film, wrote the screenplay for "Dark Shadows," and is currently working on the "Beetlejuice" sequel and the "LEGO Batman" movie. He also co-created "The Hard Times of RJ Berger" for MTV along with David Katzenberg in 2010. He has not yet directed a film, although he was previously attached to direct a remake of "Something Wicked This Way Comes" for Disney.

"The Flash," which is set for a 2018 release, will be part of Warner Brothers' Justice League-based cinematic universe along with "Batman vs. Superman" and "Suicide Squad." Save for focusing on the same central character, it will also bear no resemblance to the TV version, which currently stars Grant Gustin as The Flash.

But as Miller told MTV News earlier this year, he thinks there's totally room for plenty of alternate universes filled with scarlet speedsters -- and we think he'll make a pretty good Barry Allen, too, especially with Graham-Smith at the helm.
