According to Deadline, the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2” star has booked a multi-episode arc as Reagan, a “gorgeous, straight-shooting pharmaceutical sales rep” who “shakes things up” while renting out Jess’ (Zooey Deschanel) room while Jess is sequestered on jury duty.
Deschanel filmed the first four episodes of the new series earlier this year, and will not appear during a chunk of the new season while out on maternity leave. That’s when Fox will swoop in to do her “shaking up,” debuting in the sixth episode.
Deschanel gave birth to her first child, a baby girl, last month, and also wed Jacob Pechenki over the summer.
For Fox, this is a long-awaited return to television after almost a decade away from the small screen. She was a regular on the sitcom “Hope & Faith” from 2004-06, but has since moved on to star in big screen blockbusters like “Ninja Turtles” and the “Transformers” series.
“New Girl” creator and executive producer Liz Meriwether sang Fox’s praises in a statement, saying, “It’s insane to me that such a gorgeous person can be so funny, but I guess we just all have to accept it. I’ve been a fan of her comedic skills since ‘This Is 40’ and I’m so excited to have her on the show. We had Megan in mind when we wrote this part – she’s the perfect person to come in and shake these guys up.”
And while we’re not entirely sure what that “shaking up” entails, we at least know Schmidt (Max Greenfield) is totally on board with this new roomie sitch.
