Young Thug Finally Drops 'Slime Season' Featuring Lil Wayne

The long-awaited, 18-track effort also features Migos' Quavo and Offset.

The season of slime is finally here, as long promised.

After months of delays, Young Thug released his Slime Season mixtape on Wednesday night (Sept. 16), proving it’s always better late than never to give the people what they want. The release comes just a day after Thugger hinted at its impending arrival by asking fans on Instagram to submit artwork for the tape's cover.

Originally billed as a full-length collaboration with Atlanta hitmaker London On Da Track, Slime Season also boasts beats from producers including Metro Boomin and Southside. The 18-track effort is a mixture of fresh material, just-released tracks (like “Best Friend," which Thugger shared the trippy video for earlier this week), and work pulled from the colossal Rich Gang hard drive leak in May.

Several features pop up throughout the tape, including verses from Migos members Quavo and Offset, as well as PeeWee Longway and Young Ralph. But the most striking name tagged to this project? None other than Thug’s idol-turned-bitter rival, Lil Wayne.

Slime Season opens with the Wayne-featured “Take Kare,” which originally dropped last year, back when things were a lot rosier between the two rappers. But since then, they’ve publicly beefed over project titles (Thug originally wanted Barter 6 to be called Carter 6), release dates (Slime Season was due for release on July 4, the same day as Wayne’s Free Weezy Album) and reports that Thug and Birdman conspired to kill Wayne. So, yeah, opening the tape with “Take Kare” is a somewhat daring move.

Slime Season is the precursor to Young Thug’s full-length debut album, Hy!£UN35 (HiTunes), which is supposedly dropping later this month via his label, 300. He’s also scheduled to kick off his first solo, headlining tour on Friday.

Needless to say, this is a greatly-anticipated release from one of the most exciting MCs today, but don’t just take our word for it — stream the tape in full below.
