Anna Kendrick Reveals How You (Yes, You) Can Land A Role In ‘Pitch Perfect 3’

Time to get those Dubsmash skills on fleek.

It’s crazy to believe, but “Pitch Perfect 3” already has a theatrical release date. And while it’s practically lightyears away (July 21, 2017 — yeesh!), it’s time to start gearing up for it NOW. Why? Because YOU could be its next big breakout star… but you only have a week to earn your spot.

“Pitch Perfect” leading lady Anna Kendrick appeared on “Good Morning America” on Thursday (Sept. 10) to announce a contest where fans can win a walk-in role in the a cappella franchise’s third installment. But in an unexpected twist, it’s not your pipes that’ll land you the coveted prize — in fact, it’s quite the opposite.

To enter the contest, fans must go to lip-syncing app Dubsmash and, using the PitchSmash section on the app, lip-sync to their favorite song or quote from “Pitch Perfect 2.” Entrants have until Sept. 17 to upload a 10-second clip of their soundbite to Vine, Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #PitchSmash. The winner will be announced on “Good Morning America” on Sept. 22, the same day “PP2” gets released on DVD and Blu-ray.

While announcing the contest on “GMA,” Anna also spoke about how excited she is to start filming “PP3,” which will reunite her with costars Rebel Wilson, Hailee Steinfeld and Brittany Snow.

“I’m really excited about the third one. The second one we had this like window of time to make it, and we were all a little panicked about it. We’re going to make the third one the first thing next year I think,” she said. “I think everyone is really excited to just do something a little different, just change up the structure of it, and just do something creative.”

And speaking of doing something creative… this is bound to be a pretty popular contest, so make sure you know your submission out of the park. Might we suggest perusing over to one of our recent Dubsmash celeb rankings to see how it’s done? Or just peep Anna’s own rendition of Beyonce’s “Run The World (Girls)” right here.
