We May Not Have Heard The Last Of Aaliyah's Music Just Yet -- Here's Why

Hint: Timbaland is involved.

It's been nearly 14 years since the beloved Aaliyah passed away. Since then, fans have been left with the small, yet substantial music she released throughout her career. Most notably, Aaliyah's brilliant collaborations with Timbaland continue to influence the stylistic output of many of our favorite contemporary singers and performers. Anyone paying attention can find similarities between the work of newbies like Jhene Aiko or Tinashe and Aaliyah.

Now, Aaliyah's most trusted friend and producer is ready to unleash some of the two's unreleased work to the masses.

On Saturday, Timbaland posted this heavenly photo of Aaliyah to his Instagram. On the post, he also wrote, "Attention!!!!! People ask me all the time do I have any babegirl music we haven't heard !!!!!well the answer is YES!!!!!!!! TIMBO x BABEGIRL !!!!! Sneak peak coming !!!!!!!"

It's clear that his enthusiasm and love for Aaliyah is still strong. "She was like blood, and I lost blood," Timbaland told MTV shortly after her death. “Me and her together had this chemistry. I kinda lost half of my creativity to her ... Beyond the music, she was a brilliant person, the [most special] person I ever met.”

Just what the unreleased music between the two entails remains to be heard. Will the tracks reflect the hyperfuturistic and weird sample-driven style of "Are You That Somebody"? Will they harken back to the slick grooves and glitchy rhythm of "Try Again"? We'll just have to wait and see what Timbaland gives the world. In the meantime, relive the greatness of their collaborations with the video below.
