Find Out Which ‘Legend’-ary Singer Is Joining Ryan Gosling And Emma Stone’s ‘La La Land’

Just when you thought this movie couldn't sound more promising...

It’s damn near impossible to imagine that a musical dramedy starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone could somehow get even dreamier. But the movie gods have apparently blessed us by adding another insanely talented artist to the mix in the form of the man, the myth, the legend: John Legend.

Legend is in negotiations to join Gosling and Stone in “La La Land,” a musical love story from “Whiplash” director Damien Chazelle.

As we previously reported, Gosling and Stone star as a jazz pianist and an aspiring actress, respectively, who try to balance their work and romance in the cut-throat world of Hollywood. No word yet on what kind of role Legend will play, but given that this is a musical film, and he’s a musician IRL, we’d place our bets on seeing him sing and/or play the piano at some point. Seems only natural.

Legend’s acting credits are sparse — he last appeared in the Samuel L. Jackson comedy “Soul Men” in 2008. He does, however, already have an Academy Award to his name for "Glory," his song with Common, which they crafted for the Martin Luther King Jr. biopic “Selma."

Needless to say, this news is giving us even more reason to continue counting the days until “La La Land,” which is expected to be released in July 2016.
