How Does Drake And Meek Mill's Feud Affect Nicki Minaj?

This can't be fun for Nicki.

It's always awkward and uncomfortable when you're stuck in the middle of friends who are fighting, so Nicki Minaj must be feeling at least slightly unnerved about Meek Mill and Drake's ugly and ongoing feud.

Not only is she dating Meek, but she's also friends (right?) and labelmates with Drake. So where does that leave her, and what role has she played in this whole thing?

Let's rewind:

Nicki Was Named In Meek's Anti-Drake Rant

Meek Mill's Twitter rant got this whole thing started, and in his series of angry messages, he also mentioned Nicki Minaj by name. He alleged that both she and Lil Wayne knew that Drake has been using a ghostwriter to pen some of his songs. Nicki didn't respond to that tweet.

Meek Apologized To Nicki On Stage

Meek followed his tweets by making an announcement during Nicki's Pinkprint Tour stop the following night. He "apologized" to Nicki for his "crazy ass going crazy on Twitter" while affectionately stroking her hair, then proceeded to throw more shade at Drake. It was a bit strange to watch, because Nicki was smiling and blushing, and didn't seem too upset with him to begin with.

Another city, another PSA. If Nicki was, or is, upset about Meek's tweets then she certainly didn't ask him to sop addressing it while on the road. When they touched down in Brooklyn, Meek added more fuel to the fire. “The n—-a gave me a verse for my album but he gave me a verse that he didn’t write — that another n—-a wrote," he told the crowd. "If you ain’t with me, you ain’t gotta act like you with me."

Drake wasn't the only one in the line of fire when Meek unloaded. Nicki's ex boyfriend and collaborator Safaree - who has production credits on her albums -- was slandered, and he responded with a dis track called "Lifeline." In it, he obviously took aim at Meek but also claimed that he had ghostwritten for Nicki Minaj. He'd previously tried to dismiss that topic, but then changed his mind.

It seems like Nicki Minaj has been careful not to say anything directly about her labelmate vs. Meek, so who was she addressing during the Brooklyn stop on her Pinkprint Tour? Video footage -- incorrectly labeled as Toronto, instead of Brooklyn -- shows her slamming someone. "A bitch ass n---a can’t write my raps," she told the crowd. "You know why? You don’t have the heart or the mind strength or the mothef---ing intellect bitch n----a." Yikes. Safaree's diss track premiered two days after this footage was filmed, which makes things a little confusing.

Drake Threw Nicki's Name In The Ring, Too

Drake's first public response to Meek Mill's accusations was in the form of his "Charged Up" dis track. On it, he used Nicki Minaj in his attack, spitting, “No woman ever had me star struck/ Or was able to tell me to get my bars up/ I’m charged up. Rumor has it I either f–ked her or I never could/ But rumor has it has never done you n—as any good.”

Actually, He Did It Twice

One time wasn't enough. Drake followed up and went even harder on "Back to Back," using Nicki and Meek's relationship for more ammo. Maybe he was tired of Meek dissing him on The Pinkprint Tour. "You love her, then you gotta give the world to her,” he raps. “Is that a world tour or your girl’s tour?/I know that you gotta be a thug for her/ This ain't what she meant when she told you to open up more."

Will Meek Defend His Relationship?

We still have no idea how Nicki Minaj feels about Drake and Meek putting her in the middle of their feud. But we'll probably find out when Meek finally drops his response track. He told fans he was stuck on the tour bus, heading to the studio, and it seems like a guarantee that Nicki will hear, and weigh in on, whatever he's going to drop.
