Will Miley Cyrus' Next Record Come In Like A Wrecking Ball? Here's What We Know

We've been waiting so patiently...

Miley Cyrus has been as silent as, uh, not a wrecking ball about her followup to the Grammy-nominated BANGERZ, but she HAS been snapping copious photos in the studio with pal and mentor Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips.

As the two toil away on jams about dead animals that they will subsequently unleash unto the world encased in the mummified corpses of kings (we see you, Wayne) -- or something -- we've compiled everything we know so far about this mystery music.

Check it out below and let us know in the comments: What do you think Miley has up her spandex sleeve?

It Won't Be About The Twerking -- It Will Be About The Music

Miley officially retired from twerking at the 2014 VMAs -- just one year after basically ENDING THE DAMN WORLD doing just that. Asserting that her BANGERZ followup will take as long as it needs to -- five years, even -- Cyrus told MTV's Sway Calloway: “I’ve retired [from twerking], yeah. I’m making some music right now with The Flaming Lips. It’s different. It’s a little psychedelic.” Which leads us to number two...

It's Probably Going To Sound Pretty Different

With BANGERZ, Miley was definitely drawing from rap and hip-hop when it came to inspiration -- with whatever her next record will be, she'll probably be tapping into rock a bit more. Not only has Cyrus been recording with Coyne, she's also been displaying a newfound interest in punk rock -- sharing snaps of the likes of Riot Grrrl icon Kathleen Hanna on Instagram. Girls to the front? Girls to the front.

It May Feature Dead Pets

Miley performed a song inspired by her friend's dead cat at Art Basel called "Twinkle Song." She's also been pretty torn up about the death of her dog, Floyd. Could more odes to furry ones be in the future?

She Has SOME Stuff Written

Miley has apparently been in the studio EVERY DAY working on new music -- as evidenced by the above clip she posted to Instagram from a sesh with Coyne. How soon do we get to hear more, Miles? How soon is NOW?
