Meghan Trainor Is More Than The ‘Bass’: 6 Things We Learned From Her Debut Album

She's been in and out of love, and she's got the confidence to tell you all about it.

For those of you wondering if Meghan Trainor is more than just the "bass" she often sings about, it turns out that she is. Just listen to her new album, Title.

The breakout star just released her debut LP on Tuesday (January 13), and from start to finish it brings a refreshing new twist to her signature throwback doo-wop sound.

Over the course of the 15-track album, the two-time Grammy nominee, who co-wrote every song, gives us a glimpse into her life. So, what did we learn about the up-and-coming 21-year-old star? Here are 6 things that Meghan is all about.

She Knows What She Wants

megg

Meghan isn't afraid to tell a guy how it is. I mean, why waste your time, right? If you want to get with her, you better give her the girlfriend "Title," and "Dear Future Husband," you best be telling her she's beautiful every night "If you wanna get that special lovin'."

All About This Lyric: "You got that 9 to 5/ But, baby, so do I/ So don't be thinking I'll be home and making apple pies/ I never learned to cook" - "Dear Future Husband."

Confidence Is Key

Meghan wants you to know that "every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top" with a little help from "All About That Bass" and acoustic guitar ballad "Close Your Eyes."

All About This Lyric: "Everybody's born to be different/ That's the one thing that makes us the same/So don't you let them words try to change you/ Don't let them make you into something you ain't" - "Close Your Eyes.

Relationships Are Complicated

Meghan seems to have found herself in all sorts of relationship messes, from missing her ex at "3am," to having a no good lying cheater on "Lips Are Movin'," to even waking up after a night of partying and coming to the realization that she just made a huge mistake and now has to take the dreaded "Walkashame." Yikes, relationships are hard.

All About This Lyric: "My daddy knows I'm a good girl/ We all make mistakes in the drunk world/ Everyone here's done the walk of shame" - "Walk of Shame."

Like, Really Complicated

meg2

So, you found yourself in a relationship (yay!), but a few weeks into it you realize it's all wrong (boo). Luckily, Meghan has been there herself, so she'll get you through this mess with "Mr. Almost" and "My Selfish Heart." Hey, sometimes you just gotta do you.

All About This Lyric: "You're so sweet when we're kissing/ But there's something I'm missing/ Baby there's no chemistry" - "Mr. Almost"

But Sometimes Relationships Are (Kind of) Easy

meg5

Meghan clearly knows what it's like to be in love, and so does John Legend, so why not team up for a song? "Like I'm Gonna Lose You" is about loving someone so much because you never know when you might lose them. It's kinda sad but still super-sweet, just like her song "What If I."

All About This Lyric: "So I'll kiss you longer baby/ Any chance that I get/ And I'll make the most of the minutes/ And love with no regrets" - "Like I'm Gonna Lose You"

Tell It Like It Is

meg6

Meghan isn't afraid to tell you exactly what she's thinking. If she doesn't like your man she'll make sure to let you know he's "No Good For You," but she expects some "Credit" if you're dating her ex, because she "gave him swag" and "made him cool."

All About This Lyric: "His kiss is soft and sweet/ He sweeps you off your feet/ He's no good for you/ He's no good for you," - "No Good For You"
