Tina Fey's New Comedy Show 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' Has Found A Home

And there's plenty of '30 Rock' alumni on board, too.

Looks like Netflix is getting the last, er, next laugh.

“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” Tina Fey’s first comedy series since the Emmy Award-winning “30 Rock,” is headed to the on-demand Internet streaming media provider instead of her previous home network, NBC.

“When the opportunity arose for Tina Fey and Robert Carlock to premiere their new show on Netflix with a two-season commitment, we decided this was the best possible scenario to launch this captivating new series,” NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt told People. “While it was originally developed for NBC, we have a very drama-heavy mid-season schedule so we’re thrilled about this Netflix opportunity. It’s an instant win-win for everyone.”

The show, which stars Ellie Kemper (who played Erin Hannon on "The Office") as Kimmy, centers around a woman who absconds from a doomsday cult after 15 years of brainwashing to begin a new life in New York City.

Kimmy rents a room from Tituss Burgess (who played D'Fwan on "30 Rock"), who plays a gay Broadway actor that moonlights as a robot in Times Square. Fey is keeping it all in the family as another 30 Rocker, Jane Krakowski, also stars.

“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” shoots on location in the Big Apple and will debut on the network responsible for “House of Cards” and “Orange is the New Black” in March.
