This 'Normal Barbie' Comes With Acne And Cellulite Accessories

Barbie might have just gotten a tribute from Jeremy Scott at Moschino, but clothing aside, Barbie has a lot of problems. Last year, a study showed that the only way to attain Barbie's nearly-impossible physique would be to starve yourself to the point of not being able to menstruate—plus, you'd have to walk on all fours just to support your head and chest.

Lammily

Lammily doll

Pennsylvania resident Nickolay Lamm decided that young girls needed a Barbie alternative, so he created Lammily. Being billed as a "normal Barbie," the doll has the measurements of an average 19-year-old American woman and, so far, has been well-received by the kids who've gotten to test her out.

The second grade students who played with the doll said everything from, "She looks like my sister!" to "She looks like a regular girl going to school" and, adorably, "She looks like she would help someone if they were hurt," as seen in this video from TIME. And when presented with the choice between Barbie or Lammily and the question "Which one of these dolls would you like to receive as a present?" the students shown all picked Lammily. (To be fair, though, many of them qualified their choice saying they already had Barbies.)

Just like Barbie, the Lammily doll comes with a handful of accessories. Only Lammily's include stickers that look like cellulite, stretch marks, and acne.

News of Lammily's debut couldn't be better timed, as Gizmodo wrote yesterday about a recent Barbie book whose helpless portrayal of Barbie, the computer science student, was straight out of 1952. You would think by now, especially in a year where feminism has made made so many headlines, that Barbie's creators would be hip to gender equality.
