We were only told one thing before seeing Moschino's Spring/Summer 2015 show tonight in Milan: "Think pink." Welp, that ended up being the understatement of the century. Creative director Jeremy Scott designed an entirely Barbie-themed collection that nailed the doll's signature look down to every last detail. From the voluminous platinum blond hair to the statement handbags to the solid stilettos, Jeremy stayed true to the '80s and '90s generations of Barbs in every way possible.
For the show, he even created his own Moschino doll that was an exact replica of the opening look, which totally got us thinking: Haven't we seen some of these other looks on Barbie before? After a long (longggg) deep dive into the depths of eBay, the answer is a resounding "yes." Check out some vintage Barbies who totally sported these ensembles in years past (and when you're done, you can snatch ’em up at Moschino.com!).
This head-to-toe, classic pink pencil-skirt-and-jacket look is giving us some serious Elle Woods vibes, and we like it. (Bruiser would probably agree.)
Dang, are we seeing double? These metallic twinsies are glowing in all-gold pieces paired with a pale pink lip.
We have to admit this gold trench and black mini dress ensemble is pret-ty dead on. Well, minus the fact that one is for humans and one is not.
Terry cloth is making a comeback, and it looks like Barbie originally sported a simpler version of a yellow and white trim towel dress way back when.
OK, we know this isn't exactly the same, but the similar colorway is too good to pass up.
The shiny pink body-con and matching pink heels would've been enough to convince us, but, dudes, there's even a plastic hanger.
Everyone needs a hot-pink sweatsuit, so we're incredibly happy Moschino brought this killer two-piece to life.
In case you were wondering, yes, Barbie has worn a gold ruched gown with a giant bow on it before.
Swap out lace for gold chains, and this teal and black suit means business.
When Barbie wants to get all dolled up (heh), it's no surprise that she'd opt for something pink with lots of tulle.
You'd think it'd be hard to find an '80s-inspired hot pink strapless prom dress with some serious volume, but nope! Barbie's been there, done that.
And finally—perhaps our proudest achievement of all—we discovered Barbie has worn basically the exact metallic polka-dot dress with iridescent ruffles before, and we are so into it.
