Nicki Minaj Gets Very Honest About A Failed Relationship On 'Bed Of Lies'

Sounds like Nicki is speaking to one person in particular.

Nicki Minaj wore a few hats at the 2014 MTV EMA on Sunday night. The YMCMB rapper hosted and performed at the show, and she took the opportunity to debut a brand new track called "Bed of Lies," featuring Skylar Grey. I'll go out on a limb here, and say that the song will likely be the next single from her upcoming third album, The Pinkprint.

The new song was sandwiched between a medley of "Super Bass" and "Anaconda" at the EMA, but it doesn't sound remotely like either of those tracks. Instead, it's a slowed down tempo, with a catchy hook from Skylar Grey and some painfully real lyrics. If you listen closely, it certainly sounds like Nicki Minaj is rapping about a close romantic relationship that recently dissolved.

"You can never make eye contact, everything you got was based off of my contacts/ You a fraud, but I'ma remain icon stat," she raps, seemingly referencing a love who was with her from the start. "You was caught up in the thrill of it/ You was with me way before I hit a quarter mill in it/ Put you in a crib and yo ain't never pay a bill in it/ I was killin' it, now you got me popping pills and in it."

Nicki even goes as far as saying, "I told Baby hit you/ I said this dude buggin', cause I was doing it for us," which seems to indicate that she asked Cash Money CEO, Birdman, to step in and mediate.

The Queens rapper has been very tight-lipped about her private life, but it's no secret that she was in a relationship with Safaree "Scaff Beezy" Samuels for over ten years. The two allegedly went their separate ways after a blow out fight this summer.
