Selena Gomez Reveals What Justin Bieber Thinks Of Her New Song: Plus 7 Other Revelations From Her New Interview

Are they or aren't they back together?

By now, you may (or may not) have pulled yourself out of the pool of tears you cried after listening to Selena Gomez's new track "The Heart Wants What It Wants."

It's raw, emotional, vulnerable and all about her on-again, off-again boyfriend Justin Bieber -- and we aren't just speculating about that. Selena said so herself.

The pop star sat down with Ryan Seacrest on Thursday (November 6) and -- just like in her song -- held nothing back. Gomez talked all about her up-and-down relationship and even revealed what Justin thinks of the song. Plus, why she waited a year to release the song, which she'll perform at the 2014 American Music Awards later this month.

Here are seven revelations from Selena's oh-so-revealing interview:

1. Tearful Confession

Selena opens the "Heart" video with an emotional recording of her having a breakdown about her relationship, but this wasn't just Selena in a recording booth saying these things -- it was a true moment captured on tape.

Hollywood Records

“[The video set crew] taped the mic underneath the table when I was shooting the video," she revealed. "I went in and I went into the room by myself, and I looked at the actual mirror in the music video, and I had a conversation [with] myself to every question I had in my mind in that moment: ‘Wow, this feeling changes everything and you can’t help it.' ”

2. What Justin Really Thought

Yes, Justin saw the video and heard the song and guess what? He wasn't mad, in fact "he thought it was beautiful."

“I think it was really hard," Selena said of Justin's reaction to the song. "I think he was a little jealous of the video guy at first. Honestly, music is an expression, and if you will be that voice for these girls, there are some people that feel this. This is universal.”

3. Rocky Romance

It's no secret that Justin and Selena have had a rocky relationship, but Selena sets the record straight that their ups and downs weren't because of one person. She revealed that one of her biggest challenges this year was finding her "identity." Gomez went on to admit that they both made mistakes, but in the end it was "to only make us better."

4. Are They Or Aren't They?

It's the million-dollar question: Are Jelena back on? While she didn't give a concrete "yes" or "no" answer, it seems the pair are currently on a break.

“I support him. I think I always will. I’m upset when he’s upset, I’m happy when he’s happy," Gomez said. "I don’t want anything bad ever to happen to him. It hurts me. That’s all.”

5. Sorry For The Wait

Selena has been teasing this video for quite some time. In fact, she released the first still way back in March, and actually shot the video more than a year ago, but missed three different scheduled release dates for it.

So why the delay? Selena attributes that to changes in her life and the fact that she had to be completely ready for what she was about to say.

"It’s like, 'This is what I’ll say about every single person that has judged me for every decision that I’ve made; for every person [and] heart that is being judged for something they’ve done,' and now I just want to release it, she explained.

6. Selena Is In Love ... With Herself

It wasn't an easy year for Selena. There was a secret stint in rehab in January and the nonstop headlines about her relationship with Bieber. All of that took a toll on the 22-year-old.

“[I learned] how to love myself first. And not just in a relationship -- just my everyday life,” she revealed. “Eventually, I would be in my bathroom sobbing right before I go onstage. And then I’d just put myself onstage and I’d want to be there for those people. I never took a moment to just go, go away and be myself and figure it out. I kept pushing myself and I think the biggest thing I learned is 'it’s OK.' ”

7. Taylor's Heart Is In It

Before Selena put the song out to the world she had to get the seal of approval from her BFF Taylor Swift, who instantly fell in love with the track.

“So she came over to the house, and I played it. She had headphones in, and she watched the video, and then she just looked at me, then she looked back, and then played it three times over and over again," Selena recalled. "And I’m like, ‘I want to know,’ and she was like, ‘Oh my God. This is amazing. I’m so excited for you.' ”

8. No Jenner Drama

So remember when Selena deleted all those photos of Kendall and Kylie Jenner and then unfollowed them on Instagram? As it turns out, they were "never not friends," and Selena wanted to just start following fans.
