6 Spoiler-Free Secrets From 'American Horror Story: Freak Show' Episode 2

They're ba-ack.

Last week's premiere of "American Horror Story: Freak Show" was a critical and ratings success, but will Jessica Lange and her not-so-merry gang of freaks repeat the magic for episode two, "Massacres and Matinees?"

Based on what we saw in the screener, the answer is a resounding "yes." Here are six relatively spoiler-free things to know about episode two:

1. Twisty Gets Twisted

Did you enjoy Twisty the Clown's (John Caroll Lynch) cute little murder scene from episode one? Well, you're in luck -- we get to see a lot more Twisty this week, in more ways than one. (We'll leave it to you to dwell on what that means.)

2. New Freaks Emerge

FX

Many of the names in the "AHS" credits remained unseen last week, mostly because Ryan Murphy and the rest of the show's team wisely decided to keep the action centered around Lange's Elsa and Sarah Paulson's Bette and Dot during the premiere. However, two new freaks -- Michael Chiklis' strong man, who has a mysterious past with Ethel Darling (Kathy Bates), and Angela Bassett's three-breasted woman -- come to play early on in the episode, and safe to say not everybody wants them there.

3. Dandy Takes The Stage

We got a peek at the spoiled Dandy Mott (Finn Wittrock) and his mother Gloria (Frances Conroy) when they came to see Elsa belt out David Bowie last week, but a trip to their colorful mansion quickly reveals that this not-so-nuclear family is a lot more sinister than their buttoned-up, colorful attire would suggest.

4. There's A New Take On A '90s Classic

For some reason, not everyone on social media seemed to be as taken by that "Life on Mars" performance as we were last week. Well, if you had an issue with this '50s show taking a journey to 1971 for some Bowie, you're really not going to like Paulson's Fiona Apple cover this week. Which is a shame, because -- unlike Elsa -- at least one of the two-headed twins can actually sing.

5. Anti-Freak Fervor Is High

FX

Anti-freak sentiment is running high due to all of the (mostly Twisty-related) murders going on in Jupiter, Florida, and this begins to affect the freaks in a terrifying, life-changing way in episode two. Evan Peters' Jimmy takes the lead when they decide to fight back, and let's just say we're glad the show is giving his character more to do than grunt and stand around like he did in "Coven."

6. Elsa Is No Angel

Elsa's heartfelt speech about wanting to do the Freak Show for herself was touching, but her actions towards one performer in episode two are... well, less so. Elsa is a very complicated character, and she's fascinating to watch, but it's starting to become clear that her intentions are not as pure as she wanted Bette and Dot to believe when she recruited them from that hospital bed.
