‘True Detective’: Rosario Dawson, Jessica Biel And More Are Rumored For Season 2

"True Detective" casting is a flat circle.

Another day, another batch of names in the rumor mill for season two of "True Detective."

This time around, however, the casting buzz is all about the ladies -- because according to The Wrap, seven names are being tossed around in contention for the female lead on the show, Ani Bezzerides, who is described as a gambling and alcohol-loving sheriff. Elisabeth Moss and Rachel McAdams were initially on the short list for the role (and would likely be very awesome), but reports have surfaced that an additional gaggle of actresses will be reading for the part as early as this week.

The most promising name on the list is probably Rosario Dawson's, but fans of "7th Heaven" and "Summer Catch" should be happy to see Jessica Biel's name in contention as well. Malin Ackerman from "Trophy Wife" and "Watchmen" is also a decently big name on the list, as is "Thor" star Jaimie Alexander and "Game of Thrones" actress Oona Chaplin (who played Talisa Stark), with Brit Marling ("Another Earth") and Kelly Reilly ("Flight") rounding out the roster.

There's a whole lot of talent here, and it looks like whoever nabs the part will be working alongside Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch, and Vince Vaughn once shooting begins in the coming weeks. However, an official announcement is yet to be made, so anyone from Ariana Grande to the Yellow King himself could theoretically make the cut before Nic Pizzolatto films his first take.
